It was so unfair of him to act so masculine and attract so many young and old hetero women, only to break their hearts with the news that they never had a chance with him. If only he had given the public some sort of inkling that he was gay, all the heartache could have been eschewed. But no. These two musical talents started playing together in the band The Spaceshits operating out of Montreal, but then Blacksnake (King Khan) moved to Germany and the two broke up. King Khan went on to perform with King Khan and the Shrines while BBQ played with his new band Les Sexareenos. The two finally reconnected and now tour together (BBQ on drums, percussion, tambourine, base drum, snare drum, guitar; King Khan on lead guitar and vocals) bringing audiences all over the world good music and entertainment that is both obscene, inappropriate and violent enough (King Khan was after all just recently punched in the face by the guitarist from Mastodon) for good old garage rock Canadian style.  Give them a listen here.

Besides Jerry Garcia rising from the grave to do a tour, having Phish reunite is the next greatest thing that could happen in the jam world- and it has. PHISH HAS REUNITED. Although only announcing a brief three-night stint in Hampton, Virginia March 6-8, 2009, their site states more tour dates will be announced for early 2009.  Whether they are doing a full blown tour or just a couple shows- the fact is that the band had reunited in one way or another. Jay-Z will be back on tour this fall with Lil’ Wayne joining on certain dates. After his $150 million deal with Live Nation one would think his ticket prices would be lowered…but Jay-Z is a businessman and his concerts are all about supply and demand. Why would he charge less when people would pay more? For the fans? Phfff…he doesnt need them anymore. As the first hip-hop artist to sign with Live Nation, Jay-Z receives his own entertainment ventures and recording and tours for the next decade. Live Nation is slowly competing and taking over in the music world competing with record labels over rights to distribute an artist’ merchandise and more.  The Jay-Z/Live Nation deal is one of the biggest contracts in music history. See? With corporate mongol friends like Live Nation, why would Jay-Z need anyone else?

Carrie Underwood has taken two more award nominations as just a few more notches in her belt. This American country superstar has been nominated for CMA’s “Female Vocalist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for Carnival Ride. She has already taken home “Female Vocalist of the Year” the past two years in a row, and this year will probably make it a third. Looks like we’ll find out next year!
