La Russa’s Decided To Return

For a week or so La Russa tended to his many West Coast pets to finally make up his mind: he wants to keep managing. Tony La Russa is hoping the Cardinals can make an equally quick decision on hiring their general manager. Tony agreed to a 2-year deal to stay in St. Louis, confident the team can still be a contender. A year after the Cardinals’ winning the WS, the team endured a disappointing 78-win season. Walt Jocketty, St. Louis General Manager, was fired earlier this month. The Cardinals’ chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said all the GM candidates he had talked to said they would have no problem working with Tony La Russa.
